Hi subscribers and members.
WWC Membership changes
I've been chatting to members and we have decided that everyone should be able to benefit from the website and the ability to promote their writing even if they are low on funds and can't afford membership at the due date. So, for those who can afford the $20 a year, that's great and I hope you'll be able to continue. Although from now when your yearly anniversary comes up you'll not be told to send us your $20 to renew your membership, instead you'll be asked to make a donation amount you think suits your budget. Future members will also be given the same offer. That way, no one misses out.
Let's help our writer friends
This new way may sound like an honour system, which I guess it is. As writers we crave to have our work read by others and a desire to be published and paid for our work, so giving WWC too much money that you earn from a job that is not a writing career, but you wish was, seems unfair to me. We would rather you send us only what you can afford. And if you can afford the full $20, then great, if not, then that's ok and so just send us any amount and you'll still be just as welcome to use our site for your writerly needs and promotions.
Join our writer membership
If you haven't joined yet, please reply back to this email and we'll set you up with a page on the WWC site so you can have a place amongst other writers. You'll get a reminder every year to update your writer page on the WWC site and to become involved in our Writers Sauce email-out and to promote your writing through us to our subscribers.
Did you have an article idea to help other writers?
Writers Sauce will be sent out again soon, so if you have an article you want to write, a book review you want to add or something else, get in touch and we'll see if we can fit it in. For an idea on what we add to Writers Sauce, please visit here: https://melbournewriters.wordpress.com
We're happy with new ideas, so get in touch.
We are always looking for new people to help out
WWC is only as strong as the work put into it by members.

Q&A
1) Why does it cost money?
We have to pay for the website, which is about $300 a year depending on US exchange rate.
2) What happened to the writing competitions?
We do not have a writing competitions manager at the moment and would like a person to take over this role and build up active members.
3) Will I be paid for my work on WWC?
It is all volunteer work. However, we can send you some rewards derived from new membership or if we get lots of writers entering competitions.
4) If I send you an article, will I be paid?
This article writing is ONLY for our writers and to help them with their writing. A collaborative group where we give our time up freely to help each other out. I think writers should be paid when writing something for the general public, though. However, we do not create any writing for the general public (except for writing competitions - which you receive a cash reward for - and any work you decide to put up on the WWC site either for free or at cost). You will need to contact magazines etc. for paid work.
